So, I've been having a few dilemma-ridden days. I've moved past being antsy for the cruise ship thing to happen. Now I'm just irritated. Do I really want to work for a company that is this useless at telling me when I'll be able to go work? I'd probably be less irritated if I actually had a full-time job and didn't feel like my life was completely in limbo. The part that's making me really anxious is the fact that I have a commitment to be back for by the end of April. My parents and I are going overseas at the start of May, and I've got to be back for it! I'd also like to be saving up for the cost, but, seeing as I'm not working as much as I could be, saving is hard.
So, I've been told that the stint on the ship will be 5 months long. If I'm not on the ship by the second week of November, I don't see how I can go work for them....and the fact that it's nearly October is worrysome! Do I just keep waiting? Do I send them an email saying "send me now or I'm out"? Do I look for a full time job here in Portland? I don't really wanna keep bartending here in town for the time being. The smoke is grossing me out, and taking its toll! My lungs seriously hurt yesterday after a 7 hour shift when there weren't even that many people around! Ugh.
What do I do???

Poor Mr. Pants!!
Well, as some of you may know, I had to take my kitty to the vet yesterday, because he was drinking a ridiculous amount of water. And when a cat does this, they either have kidney problems, or diabetes. I was hoping it wouldn't be diabetes, but, seeing as my cat was 19lbs at the start of this summer, I had my worries! He's now down to 17lbs, and the vet called this morning. Diabetes. I guess the vet starts giving insulin when a cat is at 250 on the blood scale. Mr. Pants is at 495! So, this afternoon Evie and I will be going in to learn how to give him his insulin shots. He'll need them twice a day. And he gets to go on some new high-protein food.
The vet also wants us to get a urine sample. Apparently the way to do this is by the vet giving us a handful of black rock-like things that we put into the otherwise empty litter box. The black stuff doesn't absorb water, so when he pees, we can dump it into the cup, and take it in. Mr. Pants hasn't peed in over 12hrs now! Can't say I blame him though, he probably doesn't want to go in the nearly empty box, and I'm sure he's still freaked out and annoyed that we took him to the vet in the first place. Though, the vet said that if he hasn't gone by our appointment this evening, that she can just get the sample herself, via needle. That'll work for me, though Mr. Pants will probably just be more pissed off! No pun intended...haha.
So that's the latest....and here's a fun pic of him for those of you that haven't met him in person. :)

Trip to Southern Oregon
I just got back from a very enjoyable few days in Southern Oregon. I went with my friend Jocelyn, we stayed in Roseburg with her parents and did some local sightseeing! We went up to Crater Lake, which I hadn't seen since I was 13 or so. Jocelyn actually got me to go on a hike that afternoon, which was very enjoyable. Who knew that I could actually enjoy nature at times?? Ha!
After eating some fish and chips, we came to realize that the keyless entry for the car wasn't working! There was a key to the car that wouldn't work either, for some strange reason. Jocelyn's dad was preparing to drive the 2hrs from Roseburg to rescue us while we called a locksmith. The locksmith showed up, Jocelyn was explaining the problem, pushed the button, and it unlocked! Figures, huh? We also went to a state park called Shore Acres that had a beautiful garden. (See my facebook page for lots more pics of the trip.)
It was definitely a good way to spend a few days "away" without going too far, or using up too much gas!

"Active Hold"
So, today I finally got an email from Norwegian after waiting 5 or so weeks since applying for the coast guard document.... I was told that I'm on "active hold" status, and that they'll contact me when my position becomes available, and when I'll be sent out for training. Annoying? Yes. Anything I can do about it? No.
Sigh....I guess that means there's some more quality couch time in the future for me and Mr. Pants. More updates to come when I get them!
